CHICAGO (STMW) — At least six people have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday afternoon.
The most recent shooting injured a woman, 21, Saturday morning in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the hand about 5:55 a.m. in the 5600 block of West Madison Street, police said. She walked into Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center, where she was listed in good condition.
About 5:05 a.m. Saturday, a 33-year-old man was shot and seriously wounded in the Austin neighborhood.
The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 5000 block of West Maypole Avenue when he was approached by an unknown male who started shooting at him, striking him once in the face, police said. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition.
Less than 30 minutes earlier, a man who suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood walked into a south suburban hospital.
The 42-year-old man told police he was shot about 4:45 a.m. in the 7800 block of South Ingleside Avenue after he was involved in an argument with an unknown male, heard numerous shots and felt pain, police said. He later walked into MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, where he was listed in “stable” condition.
About 1:05 a.m. Saturday, a man was shot in the North Side Rogers Park neighborhood.
The man, 20, was walking on the sidewalk in the 7700 block of North Paulina Street about 1:05 a.m. when a group of males walked up and opened fire, police said. He was taken with a graze wound to the leg to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he has since been treated and released. The man is a documented gang member, according to a police source.
A 20-year-old woman was wounded Friday evening when a group of gunmen opened fire inside a store in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.
The woman was inside a business about 7:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 71st Street about 7:30 p.m. when multiple males entered the store and opened fire, police said. She was shot in her right torso and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in “stable” condition.
About five hours earlier, a 22-year-old man was shot in the South Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.
The man was walking in an alley about 2:40 p.m. in the 4100 block of West 25th Place when someone walked up and opened fire, hitting him in the face and left arm, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in “stable” condition. Police said the man is a documented gang member.
No one is in custody for any of the shootings as area detectives investigate.
