GARY, Ind. (CBS) — For the second time in less than a week, Indiana State Police are investigating a road rage shooting on an interstate.

Both happened on I-80/94 in Gary. The first was Wednesday. The second was Sunday night.

CBS 2’s Mai Martinez reports.

The most recent shooting happened on westbound 80/94, but the victim told police her first interaction with the shooter’s car took place down on 25th Avenue because of potholes. It occurred around 9 p.m.

A 33-year-old Lansing woman told police she was driving slowly because of potholes. When she noticed the car behind her following too closely, she hit her brakes to get the driver to back off.

Instead, the driver pulled in front of her as they turned onto Burr Street. Moments later, as they entered the interstate, the man pulled up alongside her in a red four-door car with dark-tinted windows.

She says he then pointed a gun at her and fired four to five shots. She wasn’t hit, but her car was.

Wednesday a man was shot on I-80/94 near Cline Avenue.

Motorists say the recent incidents are disturbing.

“I don’t know what it is, but it seems like people have a lot more rage out there these days,” Les Owczarski of Michigan says.

Tips regarding either shooting can be called in to (219) 696-0039.
