CHICAGO (STMW) – Five people were injured–including four in serious-to-critical condition–after a two-vehicle pin-in crash near the south end of Grant Park early Saturday.

About 2 a.m., a Toyota Camry and a Hyundai Elantra were in the 200 block of East Roosevelt Road when one of the vehicle struck a pole, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer, citing preliminary information.

The driver of the Camry, a 17-year-old boy, and one of his passengers, a 18-year-old man, were both taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said. The driver of the Elantra, a 30-year-old woman who was the sole occupant of her car, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Two other passengers in the Camry — a 17-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl — were also taken to Northwestern, police said.

Four of the individuals injured in the crash were listed in serious-to-critical condition, and one person was in fair-to serious condition, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known as Area Central detectives investigate.
