CHICAGO (CBS) — Interstate 65 has been reopened between Gary and Lafayette, but police are warning drivers to avoid travel in Indiana unless it’s absolutely necessary.
These traffic camera photos clearly show why.
The road is still snow-covered and extremely icy.
The above photo is located at U.S. 231 near Crown Point.
The image below is located near U.S. 30 in Merrillville.
The blurry image below shows a snow-covered interstate just south of downtown Indianapolis.
Conditions are similar all along the route, police said.
I-65 fully covered w/ ice from south of Lafyette north to I-80. Troopers reporting it is rough & difficutl to stay on the road @ 25mph.—
