(CBS) – Five days after a teen girl was beaten and raped, Chicago police were back in a West Side neighborhood asking the public for help.
Officers were handing out flyers at Fullerton and Long, where on Tuesday morning a 15-year-old girl was hit on the head, dragged into a back yard and sexually assaulted. She was left bloodied and without pants in the snow.
The crime outraged Mayor Emanuel and his police superintendent, Garry McCarthy, who vowed the department will solve the crime.
To that end, police hope their presence Sunday would jar the memory of someone who saw something in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood.
“The smallest tip could break the case and really help us out,” Chicago Police Sgt. Timothy Dineen tells WBBM.
