PALOS HILLS, Ill. (STMW) — Police are searching for two men who pepper-sprayed a clerk while robbing a southwest suburban convenience store of more than $2,000 last week.
Police were called to the Palos Pantry at 8100 W. 111th St. in Palos Hills just after 9 p.m. Dec. 12, according to a report from Palos Hills police.
They learned two robbers wearing black ski masks had sprayed the clerk with a substance, assumed to be pepper-spray, before taking a cash register drawer, the report said. The robbers also took the drawer from another cashier’s register and the contents of an unlocked safe.
In all, they got away with about $2,225 in cash and an iPhone the clerk dropped while recovering from being sprayed, the report said.
One suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black gloves, white shoes, a white undershirt and black-and-red colored boxers, police said.
The second was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, black gloves and black shoes, police said. Both were wearing black ski masks.
