CHICAGO (CBS) — The family of a man shot to death Memorial Day weekend by Chicago Police has filed a suit alleging wrongful death and the use of excessive force, reports WBBM’s Bob Roberts.
Police said at the time that 62-year-old Michael Myers menaced officers and others with a 10 inch knife and ignored police orders to drop it.
Pat Camden of the Fraternal Order of Police said it was self-defense.
Attorney Gregory Kulis says Myers was a former state trooper and that the use of deadly force was unjustified and unreasonable. The suit seeks an excess of $1 million in damages.
