A 16-year-old boy was seriously wounded and a man was hurt in a shooting Monday afternoon in the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood.
They were shot at 4:18 p.m., as they were sitting in a vehicle in the 8000 block of South Avalon Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco said.
A blue sedan drove up and one of two males inside fired shots at them, Pacheco said.
The 16-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, Pacheco said. Another man, 21, suffered a graze wound to the left cheek and refused medical attention.
Authorities think the shooting may be gang-related, police said.
