(CBS) — While many of us were cursing the weather last week, a west suburban ski resort was making good use out of the cold snap.
The couple of inches of snow that has fallen isn’t enough for the 7 ski and snow boarding runs at Villa Olivia in Bartlett, but Superintendent Pete Pope says recent below-freezing temperatures helped them make their own.
He says it normally takes 2 to 3 weeks to put 2 feet of white stuff on the ground but this time it was done in a week.
That allowed Villa Olivia to open on Dec 13th – a full ten days earlier than last year.
