(STMW) –At least 10 people have been injured in shootings since Friday night on the South and West sides.
The most recent shooting happened about 4:35 p.m. in Englewood, where a man was shot during a robbery attempt in the 7100 block of South May Street.
The 50-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition, police said.
Twenty minutes before that, an apparent drive-by shooting left a man critically wounded in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
The 23-year-old was shot in the neck about 4:15 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Artesian Avenue, police said. He took himself to Holy Cross Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
Just after 2 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the 8700 block of South Escanaba Avenue, fire officials said. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in “stable” condition, according to Fire Media Affairs. Police could not immediately provide details on the shooting.
In the South Chicago neighborhood, an 18-year-old man was shot in the thigh about 12:45 p.m.
The shooting happened in the 8600 block of South Exchange Avenue, and he was taken to a hospital in good condition, police said.
About 40 minutes earlier, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.
The teen was standing in the 7000 block of South Vernon Avenue at 12:05 p.m. when he was shot in the leg a few minutes after noon, police said. The boy then ran to the 7400 block of South Vernon, from where he was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care in “stable” condition, police said.
At 3:25 a.m. Saturday, two men told police they were shot on the Lower West Side, police said.
The two — 20 and 23 years old — said they were shot in the 2500 block of South Damen Avenue, police said. One was shot in the leg and the other in the hand. They walked to Stroger, but one of the men left the hospital after they arrived, police said. The remaining man’s condition was not immediately known.
Three hours earlier, a man was injured in a shooting on the Lower West Side.
The 21-year-old was sitting on a porch in the 2200 block of South Wolcott Avenue about 12:40 a.m. when he was shot in the abdomen, police said. He was taken to Stroger in “stable” condition, police said.
Five minutes before that, a man was shot in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side.
About 12:35 a.m., the 37-year-old suffered a graze wound to the back of the head while in the 4700 block of South Lake Park Avenue. He was taken to Stroger and was listed in “stable” condition, police said.
On Friday night, a man was shot in the South Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.
The 29-year-old man was standing behind a house about 9 p.m. in the 2500 block of South St. Louis Avenue when a male walked up, showed a gun and fired shots at him, striking him in the arm and grazing the back of his head, police said. He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
No one is in custody for any of the shootings as area detectives investigate.
