CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is taking a bit of a beating on social media for his casual wardrobe at Sunday’s Blackhawks game at the United Center.
The mayor was sporting a retro early ’90s look with a bleached, unbuttoned denim shirt, accessorized with a faded grey Blackhawks T-shirt.
The look didn’t go over too well with some fans, while others found it amusing.
“Hey Mayor Rahm Emanuel, just saw you in the crowd at the Hawks-Wild game, 1989 called, it wants its shirt back,” mused one tweet.

Whatever you think of his style — sartorial or political — Rahm was INTO the game on Sunday. Just check out that photo above, taken by Marty Murphy, who was sitting a few rows back.
He got into a little glass-banging following a hooking penalty by the Wild’s Jonas Brodin against Peter Regin, who was skating toward a clear scoring opportunity.
The ensuing power play led to the Hawks’ first goal when Patrick Kane fired a shot that was redirected into the net by Bryan Bickell.
Afterward, Jonathan Toews described his game-winning goal in the third-period as “ugly.”
Reporters didn’t ask the Captain if he felt the same way about Rahm’s shirt, so Twitter took care of that.

Good question.
Rahm Emanuel was not available after the game for comment.
