The male, whose age was not immediately known, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the arms and torso about 1:35 p.m. in the 4100 block of West Adams Street, police said. He was walking on the sidewalk when an unknown number of offenders exited a vehicle that pulled up alongside him, and shots were fired, police said. The offenders then got back in the vehicle and it sped away.
The male was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The man’s uncovered body could be seen lying face up on the sidewalk on the southwest corner of 28th Street and Kedvale Avenue, adjacent to a boarded up single-story building tagged with gang graffiti.
As police investigated, several people who said they were family told officers that they knew the man, saying the man’s hat — “the one he wears every day” — was laying next to his body.

Less than 30 minutes earlier, a man was shot in the North Lawndale neighborhood. The 22-year-old man was standing outside about 2 a.m. in the 3900 block of West Grenshaw Street when he heard shots ring out and felt pain, police said.
