CHICAGO (CBS) – Four people were seriously injured early Friday, when an SUV headed the wrong way on Lake Shore Drive slammed into a taxi.
The crash near Monroe Street caused extensive damage to the cab, a Toyota Prius sedan.
Police said a Subaru SUV was headed south in the northbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive around 2 a.m. when it crashed head-on into the taxi.
Lake Shore Drive was closed at the scene of the wreck for more than two hours as police investigated.
Two passengers in the cab – a 27-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were hospitalized in serious-to-critical condition. The drivers of both vehicles, whose ages and genders were not available, also were seriously injured.
