CHICAGO (STMW) — Divers have located the body of a male who went into Lake Michigan early Monday. A woman had been rescued in critical condition from the same incident.
Emergency crews initially responded about 2:05 a.m. Monday to the call of a person in the water near Montrose Harbor, police said.
A woman, thought to be in her 20s, was pulled out of the water and taken in critical condition to Weiss Memorial Hospital, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
At the time, fire officials said authorities continued to search for a possible second victim but did not immediately find anyone else in the water.
A Chicago Police Marine Unit dive team found the male’s body about 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, also near Montrose Harbor, police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the fatality, but did not release any further details.
Officials could not immediately say how they came to be in the lake.
