CHICAGO (CBS) — Police are looking for a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted in the 3500 block of North Halsted in Lake View neighborhood Monday afternoon.
They say a 22-year-old woman was walking southbound in an alley when she was attacked by a man around 4:25 p.m. The alley is located just half a block from a police station
“I think that’s amazing. You think someone would see that and stop and apparently, either people are too scared or they don’t take responsibility. I am sorry for what happened,” said Femke Pranger, who lives in the area.
Police say the suspect is an African-American man who was wearing blue jeans, white gym shoes and a black skullcap and is between 25 and 32-years old and 5 foot 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall.
The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic after the assault. Police say they have surveillance video of the assault.
