CHICAGO (STMW) – A South Side man died Monday afternoon, a day after he was ordered held without bond in connection with a Far South Side crash that killed another person and injured two more last week.

Glenn Jones, 27, of the 200 block of East 121st Place, was pronounced dead Monday at 1:34 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said.

He was charged with felony counts of reckless homicide and aggravated fleeing to elude a police officer and aggravated fleeing with bodily injury.

Jones was driving southbound in the 12100 block of South State Street around 7:15 p.m. Thursday when police noticed his car was missing its front license plate, prosecutors said Sunday.

When officers tried to pull him over, he slowed down for a moment then sped off at more than 20 mph over the speed limit, Assistant State’s Attorney Claire Savaglio said.

Jones allegedly blew through a stop sign and red light, and then struck a car and slammed into a tree.

The collision killed Dalila Smith, 23, of Skokie, a passenger in Jones’ car. It also sent two of the passengers in the other car to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Jones was not present in court Sunday.
