BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (STMW) – A person was killed and three others were hurt Wednesday afternoon in a chain-reaction crash on I-55 near southwest suburban Bolingbrook.
The crash in the inbound lanes of the expressway happened at 2:43 p.m. south of Weber Road, ISP Joliet District Master Sergeant R.A. Caves said.
A box truck rear-ended a semi, which then rear-ended a passenger vehicle, Caves said.
One person in the box truck was killed, he said. The Will County Coroner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
Two people from the semi, and one person from the passenger car were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
As of about 4:30 p.m., the right and center lanes of the expressway remain blocked as crews investigate the crash.
