CHICAGO (STMW) – A 38-year-old man driving on a suspended license struck and critically injured a pedestrian with a van Tuesday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said.
The man was driving a 2000 Dodge van north on Pulaski Road about 8 p.m. when the vehicle hit the pedestrian crossing the street at the intersection with Van Buren Street, police said.
The pedestrian, a 34-year-old man, was not in the crosswalk at the time of the incident, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, according to police.
The van’s driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian, driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance, police added.
The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
