(CBS) — A southwest suburban firearms instructor has been kicked out of the state’s concealed-carry training program, and those students he’s trained will have to go through classes again.
State Police say they acted following a series of complaints and discovered that the training was neither long enough nor comprehensive enough. As a result, they are denying the applications of 327 gun owners who trained under the instructor.
The 327 denied applications will be allowed to re-train without paying any additional $150 application fee.
Investigations to date have resulted in 13 instructors being dropped from the program. More than 2,700 instructors remain certified to train gun owners.
