(CBS) – Landmarks Illinois has scoured the state for structures that need help fending off the bulldozer of progress, reports WBBM’s John Cody.
Landmarks Illinois President Bonnie McDonald has lobbying Springfield lawmakers for help saving structures and places on their ten most endangered list.
“Everything from a manufacturing district in Chicago to fresh-air camp in McHenry County and a water tower in Millstadt,” said McDonald.
Also on the Illinois landmarks list, Chicago’s uptown theater, the Mcauley Schoolhouse in West Chicago and the U.S. Marine hospital in Galena.
McDonald says there’s a late addition, the federal historic tax credit which she says is as endangered as some of the structures it was designed to protect.
