CHICAGO (STMW) – Speeders beware–new automated speed enforcement cameras will begin issuing tickets around two high schools this weekend.

On Sunday, cameras will start issuing tickets to drivers breaking the speed limit near Lane Tech College Prep, 3534 N. Western Ave., and Curie High School, 4965 S. Archer Ave., according to a release from the Chicago Department of Transportation.

Drivers caught speeding on camera in those areas will face $35 tickets for going 6-10 mph over the limit, or $100 tickets for anything faster than that, the release said.

The speed limits will be enforced by camera from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in safety zones around the schools Monday through Friday, with a 20 mph speed limit in effect through 4 p.m. when children are present.
