SKOKIE, Ill. (STMW) – Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a white vehicle that may have played a role in the death of a 23-year-old Chicago man who died in a single-vehicle accident Thursday morning in north suburban Skokie.
The fatal crash happened about 11 a.m. at 3850 Dempster St. A black 1996 Ford Mustang coupe, traveling westbound on Dempster, left the road and hit a tree in the parkway, a statement from Skokie police said.
John Khosho, of the 6700 block of North Artesian Avenue, was pronounced dead at Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston at 11:41 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.
Khosho was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.
Police said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, but said the car’s air bag deployed upon impact.
Police ask anyone who might have witnessed the crash or could identify the white vehicle and its driver to call (847) 982-5900. Authorities did not offer details about the white vehicle’s connection to the case, but released surveillance video of the car.
The crash is being investigated by the North Regional Major Crime Task Force Major Crash Assistance Team.
