CHICAGO (STMW) — Service along the CTA Green Line was interrupted for several hours Saturday morning after a train conductor found a dead man on the tracks near a West Side rail station.
The man – whose age was not immediately known – was found on the northbound tracks at the Pulaski station, 4000 W. Lake St, at 6:47 a.m., authorities said.
Northbound trains were not moving for more than two hours between the Central and California stations while the body was removed. However, as of 9:10 a.m., all northbound trains were moving with residual delays, the CTA said.
Shuttle busses assisted passengers between the Central and California stations, according to the CTA. Also, commuters were able to use the No. 20 Madison bus as an alternative and southbound trains operated normally, the CTA said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the death, but could not provide additional details.
Police are conducting a death investigation.
