HUNTLEY, Ill. (CBS) – An elderly woman was found dead in a snowbank along a road in unincorporated McHenry County early Monday.
McHenry County Sheriff’s police said they were notified at about 7:15 a.m. that a driver had spotted a body in the snow along the 11500 block of Hemmer Road in unincorporated McHenry County near Huntley.
The woman, believed to be in her 80s, was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where she was pronounced dead.
After finding her body, the sheriff’s office conducted reverse 911 calls in the area to determine if anyone living nearby knew the woman. Officers spoke to a woman who was staying with her mother at a nearby home, and realized her mother was gone, but police have not yet confirmed the victim’s identity.
An autopsy was being conducted by the Kane County Coroner’s office.
