(STMW) – A Chicago man is the second to be charged with murder in connection with an armed robbery turned deadly last month in northwest suburban Bensenville.

Tremayne Davis, 23, of the 1400 block of North Lotus Avenue, was charged Saturday with one count of first-degree murder, one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of obstructing justice, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office.

Davis and at least one accomplice encountered clerk Hussein Saghir, 36, outside Sam’s Tobacco and Food Mart at 235 W. Irving Park Rd. in Bensenville on Jan. 19 as he was leaving for the evening, prosecutors allege.

Surveillance video showed Saghir and another employee exiting the store when two males confronted them, according to a release from Bensenville police. There was a brief struggle, during which one of the two males pulled out a handgun and shot Saghir, according to the release. The two males then ran away, heading east from the store.

Saghir, of Chicago, was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorites said.

Davis is scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday.

A Bellwood man was also charged earlier this month in connection with the shooting.

Kenneth Bardlett, 20, was charged Feb. 11 with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted armed robbery, prosecutors said.

Bardlett was ordered held on $2.5 million bond, according to the DuPage County Sheriff’s office.
