CHICAGO (CBS) — Mace released at a Bronzeville school has sent 20 people to hospitals – and police say a female student is in custody.
The fire department says 19 students and a teacher were taken to hospitals – all 20 in good condition – after a student released Mace in a classroom at the Chicago Military Academy in Bronzeville.
Chicago Police say a female student is in custody.
It happened about 11:30 in the morning at the school – which is in the 3500block of South Giles.
CPS Spokesman Joel Hood released this written statement: “School officials were alerted to an accident involving mace at Chicago Military Academy this afternoon and took appropriate actions to ensure that students were safe.”
